This seal is used in Aqua-Flo pumps and is installed with the spring side inserted into the back pocket of the impeller.

The ceramic half of the seal is installed into the back housing of the wet end, moisten the rubber boot before pressing into place. Remember do not touch the contact surfaces with fingers or silicone (spring side or the ceramic side), contamination on the surface's may cause premature failure.

Changing out a pump seal can be a challenge due to the impeller almost being welded to the shaft from heat and corrosion. If you use a heat source like a heat gun and heat up the center area of the impeller (not the shaft) you will find it much easier to remove the female threaded impeller from the male threaded shaft.

Make sure to put a little silicone lubricant on the threads to make it easier if you have to remove the impeller to change out the seals again in the future.
